The canvas is a recycled towing sign that pulls at authority and power dynamics, while a red-brimmed illustrated skull portrait calls the central focus of the front. Aerobatic images of women and poems of death mingle together between brush strokes.
The double-sided painting explores the realm of fearlessness, sexuality, and rebellion with glitter, illustration, and vintage stickers from the ACT UP movement. With "ACT UP" strategically placed in lieu of lips, it's a call mirroring ACT UP, an international organization founded in 1987 to unleash one's power. A slogan, sentiment, and movement from the AIDS epidemic protest of the 1980's that carries relevancy today.
